Technovation (Part 2)
“Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.” Ryunosuke Satoro
Happy Chinese Year to those who celebrate! My first day of the New Year started off great with my Technovation team’s first official meeting!
On Sunday, our Technovation team held its first official meeting at the library. It was our first time meeting together, but we were able to accomplish so much.
Our team was planning on meeting with just the girls and the mentor; no moms. We wanted our meeting to be efficient, effective, with no jibber-jabber distractions from mothers.
However, this was not the way it turned out! Together, the four girls and four moms sat at one table in the library. With laptops out, paper and pencils scrambling, we discussed, talked, agreed, disagreed, argued — yes, we collaborated as one team.
I was somewhat surprised by our progress. At times, our conversations went way far out and in depth! We reviewed the curriculum, went over the rubrics, and voted on our app idea. We envisioned our future plans, joked about our app name. The moms, who happen to all work in the tech industry, gave input based on their experiences. We talked, and talked, so much that we finished much later than we originally intended! It was amazing how much we accomplished in one meeting; our app is already starting to take shape.
Collaboration is a powerful thing. Girls Innovate! is an organization all about mothers and daughters, and mentorship. Our Technovation team shows just that. Together, we worked as an ocean, and we couldn’t have made it this far without each and every person’s contribution.
Sunday’s meeting was so successful – we are excited for the next! I have so much faith in what this team can accomplish.
All sail, team CASA!
